Arteriovenous fistulas are surgical devices used for hemodialysis in patients with renal insufficiency. This collaboration aims to model and compare the blood flow of traditional fistulas with that of a new type of fistula called RADAR, which reduces myo-intimal hyperplasia and stenosis problems. The hypothesis is that more favorable flow parameters lead to better RADAR results. The project will use a scientific computational approach to study and compare blood flow in both types of surgical assemblies. The simulations will evaluate shear forces (WSS) over the entire vessel wall and thus provide a better understanding of the links between WSS and hyperplasia in the case of FAV, particularly from a spatial point of view. The digital studies will also make it possible to decipher how WSS are distributed in the RADAR technique and to identify specific and concrete differences between these two techniques.
