Didier Auroux earned his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the Université Nice Sophia Antipolis in 2003. Prior to that, he pursued his education at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon from 1997 to 2001. Serving as a lecturer at the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse 3 from 2004 to 2008, he later assumed the role of a professor of applied mathematics at the Université Nice Sophia Antipolis, now Université Côte d'Azur, starting in 2009. Presently, he holds the position of director at the Center of Modeling, Simulation, and Interactions (MSI).
His research interests focus on numerical methods and their diverse applications, including data assimilation, geophysics, image processing, as well as broader domains such as scientific computing, optimal control, and inverse problems. His ongoing work involves the development of fast algorithms, based on observers, to facilitate parameter estimation and trajectory identification. This extends to calibrating models of fluid flows and forecasting their evolution with precision.

Maeva Antoine obtained a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in 2015. Her thesis focused on load balancing in distributed systems. In September 2019, Maeva was recruited by the MSI as HPC Systems Administrator of Azzurra, the Université Côte d'Azur Computing Center. - Carole Belliardo, Engineer in High-Performance Computing, Numerical Simulation, and Data Science

400 Route des Chappes, 06903 Sophia AntipolisCarole Belliardo received a Ph.D. in Interaction, Biology and Ecology from Université Côte d'Azur in 2022. Her dissertation focused on the study of horizontal gene transfers in phytoparasitic nematodes through the exploitation of soil metagenomes.
After her Ph.D., she completed a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the France 2030 Priority Research Project (PePR) "Plant Microbiome and ICT," comparing different sequencing technologies for studying soil microbial communities. Her research in evolutionary and comparative genomics required the analysis of large datasets and the use of high-performance computing (HPC).
In June 2024, Carole joined the Center of Modeling, Simulation, and Interactions (MSI) as an expert engineer in high-performance computing, numerical simulation, and data science

Parc Valrose, 28 av. Valrose 06108 NiceMohammed Bouziane obtained a Master's degree in Mathematics of Modeling from Sorbonne University in 2020, followed by a Master’s degree in Modeling and High-Performance Computing from ENS Paris-Saclay in 2021. His training focused on simulation methods for solving major modeling challenges, as well as software strategies for exploiting various computing architectures.
After his studies, he began his career with an internship at ANSYS, where he gained valuable experience in simulation data compression. He then joined SUMMIT-Sorbonne as a research engineer, contributing to several projects, including a collaboration with Eau de Paris to calibrate hydraulic models.
In July 2024, Mohammed joined the Center of Modeling, Simulation and Interactions de la Simulation (MSI) as a research engineer in the fields of numerical simulation, HPC, and data science.
- Stéphanie Lopez, senior engineer
-
Stéphanie Lopez obtained her engineering degree in Applied Mathematics from Polytech Nice in 2013, and her Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2017, as part of the ANR VISIIR project.
Passionate about health projects and innovation, Stéphanie initiated and has led the LungscreenAI project since 2018, which received IdEx and MSI funding. This project is based on a partnership between Université Côte d’Azur, the Nice University Hospital (CHU de Nice), and Therapixel. Stéphanie’s contributions include the proof of concept, securing funding, recruiting and managing a multidisciplinary team, and handling GDPR regulatory procedures in collaboration with the clinical research department of the CHU and the IT department.
Today, LungScreenAI is part of the DA Capo study at CHU de Nice and is in the process of commercialization. Since June 2024, Stéphanie has been providing her expertise to MSI to support AI health projects in valorizing their collected data.
