Despite closed museums, culture does not stop: the exhibition "Guerre et Chevaliers du Moyen-Âge aux Temps Modernes" is now available in virtual mode on the website of the town of Villeneuve-Loubet

In collaboration with Université Côte d'Azur (CMMC and CEPAM laboratories), the Municipal Archives of Villeneuve-Loubet have transposed into a virtual interactive format the exhibition "Guerre et Chevaliers du Moyen-Âge aux Temps Modernes" (War and Knights from the Middle Ages to Modern Times), which was hosted since last October by the Museum of History and Art of Villeneuve-Loubet, currently closed because of the pandemic. The choice of the town of Villeneuve-Loubet was not trivial, since the prestigious noble Villeneuve family, who over the centuries counted many Knights of Malta, played a crucial role in the founding of the town.
The exhibition aims to trace the birth of the knights and reveal their lifestyle and their art of war, with a focus on the history of Villeneuve. Since the Alpes-Maritimes are usually known to the general public as a seaside destination, this exhibition offers an original perspective on the department and its history.

On November 6 and 7, another opportunity to delve into the history of the knights will be offered by the colloquium "Les noblesses du sud de la France et les Ordres Militaires" (The nobility of the south of France and the Military Orders), which will be held at the Pôle Culturel Auguste Escoffier in Villeneuve-Loubet.

The exhibition and the conference are both the result of scientific work carried out within the framework of the RENOM project (Networks, Spaces, NOblesses in the Mediterranean). Funded by the MSI, this project is a collaboration between historians (CMMC and CEPAM laboratories) and mathematicians (LJAD laboratory) from Université Côte d'Azur.
